The Ordeal of Change was written by professor Eric Hoffer in 1963. Hoffer's book describes what change looks like in a society with those on the top while others sit on the bottom. Your assignment is to read the following out-takes:

Chapter 1 - Drastic Change (p. 3)

Chapter 3 - Deed and Words (p. 13)

Questions while you are reading:

1. What happens to people that are going through changes?

2. Have you had an experience that made you change? Did you assimilate or adjust? (Why?)

3. What is cause and effect? How does it make change difficult? 

4. Does mediocrity or melancholy play a part in humans' tendency to want to change? How? 

5. Tell us one thing you will do different tomorrow to promote change.
